Tips for making Mini Strawberries & Cream Donuts:
Use Fresh Ingredients: Opt for fresh strawberries to ensure the best flavor in both the donuts and the glaze. Use high-quality cream for a rich and smooth glaze.
Proper Mixing: When mixing the batter, avoid overmixing to prevent the donuts from becoming dense. Mix until just combined for a light and fluffy texture.
Consistent Sizing: Use a mini donut pan or a piping bag to ensure your donuts are consistently sized, which helps them cook evenly.
Activate the Yeast: Mix instant yeast with warm water (around 110°F/43°C) and a pinch of sugar to activate it. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly
.
Air Fryer Method:
Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) before adding the donuts to ensure even cooking.
Lightly Grease the Basket: Lightly grease the air fryer basket or use parchment paper liners to prevent the donuts from sticking.
Cook in Batches: Place the donuts in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t touch. Cook in batches if necessary.
Cooking Time: Air fry the donuts for 5-7 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Oven Method:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Bake Evenly: Place the donuts onto the baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden.
Cooling: Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frying Method:
Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer to maintain a consistent temperature.
Fry in Batches: Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown.
Drain Excess Oil: Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Strawberries & Cream Glaze:
Prepare the Glaze: Blend fresh strawberries to make a puree. Mix the puree with powdered sugar and a splash of cream to achieve a smooth, pourable consistency.
Dip or Drizzle: Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip each donut into the glaze or drizzle it over the top. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy Fresh: Serve the mini strawberries & cream donuts fresh for the best texture and flavor. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
How to store Mini Strawberries & Cream Donuts:
Room Temperature: Store the cooled donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. This helps maintain their soft and fluffy texture. Make sure to keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Refrigeration: For longer storage, place the donuts in an airtight container and refrigerate them for up to 5 days. Before serving, let the donuts come to room temperature or warm them slightly in the microwave for a few seconds to enhance their texture and flavor.
Freezing: To store the donuts for an extended period, individually wrap each donut in plastic wrap and then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. Thaw the donuts in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature before enjoying.
Separate Glaze Storage: If you prefer, you can store the donuts and the glaze separately. Store the unglazed donuts in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Store the strawberries & cream glaze in a separate airtight container in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, warm the donuts slightly and then dip them in the glaze.
Layered Storage: When storing multiple donuts in one container, place a sheet of parchment paper between each layer to prevent sticking. This is especially useful if the donuts are particularly moist from the glaze.
Reheating Instructions: To enjoy the donuts warm, reheat them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5-10 minutes. This helps restore their fresh-baked texture and flavor.
